Design Ideas For Front Cover

I like the idea of having my title across the top of the page in capital letters and in a bold colour. I also like the idea of having the name of the title as a song title from the person that i am going to use on my front cover and double spread page from their favourite band.

I am going to stick with the idea of having the bar code, price and issue date in the bottom right hand corner.

I would want my magazine to feature a freebie inside for all readers who buy it such as posters or a CD or an accessory.

The idea of having a black, white and red theme appeals to me as it symbols rock colours and is what most rock magazines seems to have as their main colours.

The main image would be a medium shot of the person that i am going to be using and a long shot small image of another person that i am going to be using in the bottom left hand corner.

I have not decided on what i would like the background to look like yet but have an idea of it either being a plain coloured background or an area/environment background such as a gig or a music room.

I would like to have in big, bold, capital letters something like "TOP 50 ALBUMS OF THE YEAR" or "20 MOST WANTED SONGS OF THE MONTH" or "TOP 10 BANDS OF THE YEAR."

I am still going to stick with the idea of having a "THE EASY GUIDE TO DRESS LIKE A ROCKER" as a caption and put this beside the image of someone dressed up as a rocker that is in the bottom left hand corner.

It would be good to have other names of bands/soloists along the top of the cover above the title.

Small writing= issue date and price.

Medium writing= names of other bands/soloists, "THE EASY GUIDE TO DRESS LIKE A ROCKER", "TOP 50 ALBUMS OF THE YEAR" or "20 MOST WANTED SONGS OF THE MONTH." or "TOP 10 BANDS OF THE YEAR." and a quote from the person that is goig to be my main focus.

Large writing= title, main soloist name of the person that i am going to use and freebie.

The traditional "rock pose" is the index finger and the little finger erect, with the thumb holding down the other two fingers and having the palm of the hand facing towards you and the back of the hand facing outwards. I am thinking of using this pose for the main picture on my front cover.

Titles

I created a few title ideas so that I could choose which one would be more appropraite for a rock music magazine.
I created this using Wordart in Microsort Word. I do not like this because it looks a bit cartoon-like and it does not really stand out much. When I first looked at this, the first thing that caught my attention was the blue because it is much bolder than the red and I do not want this as I want the red and black bit to catch reader's attention first. The writing is also too thin.
This was the second idea that I had in mind but again I did not really like it. The red border around each letter is not very clear to see. I do not like the way the writing is curved like a bridge. If I used this title idea, I would want the letters to be more bold and the red border to be a little bit thicker.

I liked the idea of having the title vertical but then I thought that most magazine titles are across the top of the page and not many go down the page. I also like the idea that the letters are not all straight, some are juttered out. It looks a bit plain with just using the one colour. If I wanted to use this idea, I would possibly put a red border around each letter or have the writing in red and the border around each letts in black to make it stand out more.

I have decided to use this idea because it is bold,
you can see the red border around each letter not really clearly but you can still see it and the colours are the right way round. Out of all of my title ideas, this is the one that grabs my attention the most. It also looke more rock-like.

This is a protoype of what I would like my magazine to similarly look like. All the parts that I want to stand out to the readers are in big bold letters. I am happy with the position of everything on the magazine. I am considering in changing the background to an environment setting instead of using a plain white background which is bland and the environment setting will make the magazine look more busier and a bit more rock-like. However, this would probably mean that I would have to change the colours of the writing. The medium shot image of the person is from the internet and this is the perfect medium shot that I am going to use and this is the shot that I have imagined in my head since the beginning of this project. The image of the woman running up some stairs will be the image of the person that I am going to use, dressed as a rocker. The images featured on the magazine are from google so that I could show my idea. The word "Hysteria" has many meanings, so I chose the meaning that it is a wild, uncontrolled excitement. This portrays the rocker lifestyle as rocker's tend to be abit crazy and mad (uncontrolled excitement). The colour of the title is also rock-like as most rocker's tend to wear dark colours such as red and black. That is why I have made the title black with a red border around each letter. I created this in Microsoft Word and Paint.
